Inlay Bear Claw inspired necklace by Joleen Bird
Let me just start by saying WOW! Joleen Bird is from Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico. we've had the pleasure of showcasing her work for several years now. Each time her smiling face walks through the door, I am amazed with the creations she brings in her little suitcase. This piece was no exception. Joleen was inspired by the traditional bear claw necklaces and she knocked her interpretation of those pieces out of the park with this one. This necklace is on a 11" chain but measures 15" from the hook style closure to the end of the center "bear claw". Most of Joleen's wearable masterpieces are reversible, this particular piece, like pervious creations is reversible as well. The back looks like a actual bear claw and the front is decorated with a inlayed display of onyx, mother of pearl, turquoise and coral. The disc-like beads on the chain are also mother of pearl and really tie into both sides of this necklace design. The hook and eye style closure is hand made and sterling silver.
